![]() ![]() Recently I got into emulating old console games, as I grew up in a poor country where PC was king and piracy was rampant. Do you know any websites that offer more accurate estimates for game length than HLTB?īelow I'm going to offer a few examples I've seen of such discrepancies: So I have to wonder what gives? And more importantly, is there a better site out there? ![]() I'm rarely the meandering type, and I don't think I'm too bad at most games (in fact I used to be pretty good at Quake and StarCraft back in the day). And the website does structure its numbers in a way that sort of tries to reflect that.Īnd yet I've found that somehow my times often end up being hours longer than some of these estimates, despite me being somewhere in the middle of those two personality extremes most of the time. Some people love the challenge of beating a game as quickly as they can (and others may be rushing through it because they're not enjoying it very much? I have a friend who's like that), while other can get fully immersed for dozens of hours more and love doing everything they possibly can. Now, obviously people approach games differently. And after using it for about a year or so, I have to say that it feels many of the numbers it aggregates from user submissions are pretty significant underestimations. Basically after seeing that time and time again a lot of big games nowadays (even recommended and beloved ones) don't really respect the players' time too much, having all kinds of inane side quests and collectibles, I've been looking to figure out which games from my backlog wouldn't take so long to beat. This may end up devolving into a bit of a rant so I apologize in advance. r/CoOpGaming - A community for co-op gaming r/xboxone - Xbox-specific subreddit for general Xbox news and discussion r/playstation, /r/PS4 & /r/PS5 - PlayStation-specific subreddits for general PlayStation news and discussion r/pcgaming - PC gaming-specific subreddit for general PC gaming news, discussion and gaming tech support r/nintendo - Nintendo-specific subreddit for general Nintendo news and discussion r/shouldibuythisgame - Find out what's worth getting. r/gamingsuggestions - Go here to help you find your next game to play r/gaming4gamers - Discussion, bar the Hivemind Top-level comments must be at least 100 characters in length.Accounts must be at least one month old.External Links must follow these guidelines No topics that belong in other subreddits This subreddit shouldn't be used for advice of any kind.
